Baltimore Man Arrested in Shooting of Police Officer in Federal Hill

Baltimore Police Department press release:

Antonio Janifer Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder of Police Officer

On Tuesday, May 20, 2020, Police Officer Joshua Jackson was shot when he attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Light and Pratt Streets.

Officer Jackson was transported to Shock Trauma with a non-life threatening injury where he was treated and released.

Baltimore Police detectives investigated this shooting and quickly identify 28 year-old Antonio Janifer, of the 3000 block of West North Avenue, as the shooting suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.

On June 1, 2020 at approximately 8:20 P.M., members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force along with Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Antonio Janifer in Prince Georges County, Maryland without incident.

Antonio Janifer has been transported to Central Booking where he has been charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Attempted Murder.

Janifer is currently waiting to see a court commissioner.
