HarborView Towers Unveils $1.8 Million Interior Renovations

The HarborView Towers, which opened in 1993 in the 42-acre HarborView neighborhood of Federal Hill, recently received a makeover. The Council of Unit Owners at The HarborView Towers invested more than $1.8 million to modernize the building’s public spaces. The HarborView Towers is a 30 -story building with 249 condominium units.

More than 6,000 square feet of the building were updated as part of this project, which includes the Towers’ clubhouse as well as its lobby, fireside lounge, conference room and private dining space. All residential corridors received new finishes that complement the modern design of the newly upgraded spaces. New guest suites were also incorporated in the redesign, providing residents with the opportunity to offer hotel like accommodations to guests.

Baltimore’s Design Collective led the project and created spaces that highlight the building’s views of the Inner Harbor, Harbor East and Domino Sugar sign. Constantine Commercial Construction of Timonium served as the general contractor for the project.

In 2015, The HarborView Towers completed more than $6 million in improvements to the building’s exterior façade. The exterior improvements included a new roof, upgraded waterproofing, masonry repairs, balcony and terrace recoating and state-of-the-art common area heating and cooling systems atop the roof. Additionally, within the last year and a half, The Towers installed a new, cost-saving and environmentally smart LED Color Blast lighting system by Phillips in the building’s Beacon, the glass-enclosed structure at the top of the building that is visible from miles away. The Beacon now lights up the Baltimore skyline with a variety of colorful pre-programmed light shows each night.

Team from Blue Agave Purchases No Way Jose Café

No Way Jose Café, a long-time Federal Hill staple at 38 E. Cross St., closed its doors yesterday but, now, the restaurant has a new owner. The team from Federal Hill’s Blue Agave signed a deal today to take over the popular South Baltimore Mexican restaurant.

With the ink still drying on the transaction, the team from Blue Agave is just beginning to assess what changes and potential renovations will be made and when the doors will reopen, but they know they want it to stay a neighborhood bar.

“We want to keep the spirit of No Way Jose alive,” said Brian Acquavella of Blue Agave. Acquavella noted this included continuing to serve Natural Light, a popular beer at the former restaurant.

Acquavella told SouthBMore.com they will work to get the place reopened as fast as possible and are looking to sit down with the former employees of No Way Jose Café.
