Baltimore City Recreation & Parks to Make Announcement on Pools This Week

Baltimore City has entered Stage Two of the State of Maryland’s ‘Roadmap to Recovery’ from the COVID-19 pandemic. Stage Two allows pools to open at 50 percent capacity. While some private pools in the city have already opened, the public pools in the city have not yet opened.

Baltimore City Recreation & Parks (BCRP) Public Relations Officer Whitney Brown told SouthBMore.com the City will make an announcement this week regarding its plan for public pools.

Last year, Riverside Park Pool was open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend with extended hours and programming starting on June 22nd. There is also a City-run splash pad at Solo Gibbs Park in Sharp-Leadenhall.

Riverside Park pool had completed new improvements last year thanks to a $49,500 grant from the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP) and a volunteer effort from Riverside Neighborhood Association and residents in the South Baltimore community. The improvements included new murals, games, trash cans, and furniture.
