Feed More B’more This Saturday at Francis Scott Key Elementary/Middle School

The Foundry Baltimore Press Release: 

In Baltimore City, 3 in 4 children are considered food insecure, meaning they aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from. Many of these children receive their only meals for the day at school. On April 29th at 9:30 and 11 am, The Foundry is partnering with Generosity Feeds to address food insecurity in Baltimore in an event called Feed More B’More. This collaborative event will take place at Francis Scott Key Elementary/Middle School (1425 E. Fort Ave, Baltimore, MD 21230) and will mobilize over 300 volunteers to package 10,000+ meals in 2 hours. The meals will then be donated to the Maryland Food Bank and to local schools and distributed back to children in Baltimore through programs like the Food Bank’s School Pantry Program. In the last 4 years, The Foundry has created over 50,000 meals for hungry kids in our city.

Feed More B’more is open to the public. Participants are encouraged to register before hand because walk up registration may be limited. Donations are also being collected to support this event. Every $1 provides one meal. Participants may register or donated at generosityfeedsbaltimore.org (All donations are tax deductible).

The Foundry is a non-denominational, Christian Church, whose aim is to be a “church for the city.” The Foundry loves Baltimore and is committed to making the city an even greater place to live, work and play. The church strives to serve without reservation and love the way Jesus loved. Since its formation, The Foundry has been active in service-based initiatives throughout Baltimore. While this sometimes has included meeting neighbors and families through game tables or dog-cooling stations, it has also meant assisting in service with other churches and non-profits addressing needs like job training, addiction, and human trafficking recovery. Since 1979, the Maryland Food Bank has been on a mission to end hunger in our state. They work to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the state’s hungry.
