Digital Harbor High School Principal Dr. Taiisha Swinton-Buck Honored on ‘TODAY’ Show

This morning, Digital Harbor High School principal Dr. Taiisha Swinton-Buck was spotlighted on the popular NBC show TODAY. Dr. Swinton-Buck, who is in her third year at Digital Harbor, was named the Maryland Principal of the Year in 2021.

During the live segment at M&T Bank Stadium, host Al Roker surprised Dr. Swinton-Buck and Digital Harbor students by announcing the school will get free Dell laptops for every student at the school as well as free Comcast internet for a year. Comcast, which is the parent company of NBC, is also giving 1600 additional laptops to other school programs in Baltimore City.

From the article:

It’s only been three years since Taiisha Swinton-Buck took the helm at Baltimore’s Digital Harbor High School, but in that time, she’s devoted herself to bonding with students via TikTok routines, leading by example on campus and making record-setting impacts in attendance, grade averages and graduation rates.

The article also features quotes from students about Dr. Swinton-Buck:

“She always greets her students with a lot of love,” student Willian Aguirre told us.

Jaelyn Lyles said, “I feel like she has taken care of me like I’m actually her own daughter.”

And according to Dajuan Honeyblue, “Principal Swinton Buck is the best principal in the world. If you don’t like her, I don’t know what’s wrong with you!”
