South Baltimore Crime Updates

From Baltimore Police Department (BPD):

On 05/07/2023 at approximately 2158 this officer responded to 1200 S Hanover St Papa John’s for a armed robbery. Upon arrival this officer was met by employees who was working at the time of the incident. Employee stated that while she was at the front counter along with another employee an unknown B/M walked in and approached the front counter. Employee was approached by the suspect where he demanded her to open the register and give him the money that was inside. Employee complied open the register and to give him all the money. Employee that she observed the suspect holding a black handgun inside the front of his pants. The suspect then left the location and headed northbound on S Hanover St. Suspect was seen wearing a black hoodie with a Ravens logo, black pants, grey New Balance sneakers, and a ski mask. This officer notified City wide robbery who responded to scene. Victim information provided.

From BPD:

On 5 May 2023 at approximately 0015 hours, your writer responded to an Armed Robbery call for service. Victim stated that he was walking in the 100 Blk of Cross Street at approximately 0045 hours when the unknown suspect approached him from behind. Victim explained that said suspect produced a black handgun and stated, “kick it out”. Victim stated he placed his wallet and cell phone on the side metal porch of the residence in the area. The suspect ordered victim to walk towards William Street and he complied. Victim returned to the porch area finding his phone still in place. Suspect fled the scene on foot heading down Cross Street towards Light Street. District Detectives assumed the investigation.

ROBBERY, 600 WASHINGTON BLVD, SUNDAY, 4/30, 5:00

From BPD:

On 4/30/23 at 0546hrs officers responded to a call for service for a robbery. Victim advised he was in the 600 block of Washington Blvd when a moped approached with two individuals riding it. One of the suspects got off the moped and approached victim holding his left side waistband area. Victim believing the suspect was armed took off his bookbag and gave it to the suspect. Suspect emptied the contents of the bookbag and took tools from the ground. Suspect fled the area. Area canvass was conducted. District Detectives assumed investigation.

AUTO THEFT, 700 WASHINGTON BLVD, MONDAY, 5/1/23, 13:00

ROBBERY – CARJACKING, 100 W LEE ST, WEDNESDAY, 4/26/23, 18:00

From BPD:

On 4/26/23 at 1826 hours this officer responded to 100 West Lee Street. Upon arrival I was met by victim. who advised he parked his vehicle and started removing groceries from the rear driver side. While gathering groceries from the back seat he was approached by an unknown black male wearing a black hoodie and light color jeans. The unknown male requested him to hand over his cash and set of car keys. The unknown male placed his hand in his hoodie and implied he had a weapon. Victim handed over U.S currency and his car keys to his 2018 Silver Toyota Prius. An area canvass was conducted but results were negative. Detective responded and assumed control of this investigation. Victim was provided a police contact card was issued.

AUTO THEFT, 900 S HANOVER ST, THURSDAY, 4/27/23, 0:00

ROBBERY – COMMERCIAL, 1200 S HANOVER ST, SATURDAY, 4/29/23, 21:00

From BPD:

On 4.29.2023 this Officer responded to 1200 S. Hanover St in reference to an Armed Robbery. Complainant stated that he was standing behind the register when an individual walked into the store with his hands inside his pockets and told him to open up the register and give up the money. The suspect proceeded to take the money from the register and take off on foot. Suspect was wearing all black clothing with a black mask. Citywide robbery responded and assumed investigation. Complainant was provided with witness/Victim information.

AUTO THEFT, 1000 S CHARLES ST, THURSDAY, 4/27/23, 1:00

From BPD:

On Apr 23 about 0113 hours, officer was dispatched to the 001 block of W, Cross. City watch camera operator captured two light skinned black males stealing a Hyundai. The suspects fled with the vehicle westbound in the unit block of W. Cross St, towards Leadenhall St. Area canvass was conducted with negative result. Vehicle was recovered in the 100 block of W. Baltimore St by University of Maryland Police.

LARCENY FROM AUTO, 1200 COVINGTON ST, SATURDAY, 4/29/23, 20:00

AUTO THEFT, 400 SANDERS ST, TUESDAY, 5/2/23, 17:00

From BPD:

On May 3, 2023 at approximately 0732 Hours your writer responded to 400 Sanders Street a reference to an attempted stolen auto. Upon my arrival I was met by complainant who advised someone attempted to steal her vehicle. I observed her vehicles rear passenger side window broken out. Complainant vehicles ignition was also damaged. Complainant advised on yesterday date at approximately 1730 Hours she parked her vehicle. On today’s date at approximately 0730 Hours she noticed the damage and called police. Victim information form provided.
