Free Waterfront Fitness Classes Return to the Inner Harbor

Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore press release:

The Waterfront Wellness fitness series presented by the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore and Medifast® began its 2020 season in-person on August 1 with classes every Saturday through Tuesday at West Shore Park in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

“In this current climate, we think the Waterfront Wellness program carries even more meaning now as a free and accessible way for the Baltimore community to care for their health and wellness. Our staff is taking necessary precautions and implementing new safety features to help Baltimoreans comfortably enjoy their outdoor workouts,” said Laurie Schwartz, president of Waterfront Partnership.

The following schedule will take place through October 13:

  • Saturdays:
    • 8 a.m.: Bootcamp with XPF Studio
    • 9 a.m.: Dance 2 Fitness with XPF Studio
  • Sundays:
    • 8 a.m.: All Levels Yoga with YogaWorks
    • 9 a.m.: All Levels Yoga with YogaWorks
  • Mondays:
    • 6 p.m.: Line Dance to Fitness with Spirit Feet
  • Tuesdays:
    • 5:30 p.m.: Bootcamp with Federal Hill Fitness

Baltimore-based Medifast and Waterfront Partnership hope to ignite healthy habits within the Baltimore community. With outdoor classes delayed in May due to the citywide COVID-19 stay-at-home order, Waterfront Partnership provided access to a free library of classes offered by local gyms, fitness organizations and instructors to help new and past participants stay active throughout quarantine. And now, with stay-at-home restrictions lifted in Baltimore City, the program is set to resume with the following safety measures in place:

  • Waterfront Partnership Guides will be on site to manage class sizes, check in participants and help enforce social distancing.
  • Physical distancing spaces are marked 8 feet apart. Participants must stay within their designated area to maintain a safe distance from other participants.
  • Masks are always required except while exercising in the designated areas.
  • Participants should bring their own water and yoga mats.
  • Hand sanitizer will be readily available.
  • Participants are asked not to congregate in large groups before or after class.
  • Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to class starting to ensure a smooth and timely check-in process.

Classes are free to attend and all skill levels are welcomed, but participants are required to register in advance, as each class will be limited to 40 participants. For more information and to register online, please visit: www.waterfrontwellnessbmore.com.

Waterfront Partnership launched Waterfront Wellness in 2012 and has partnered with Medifast to provide free fitness classes to Baltimoreans since 2015. With over 2,500 participants in 2019, the program has reached nearly 12,000 people over the years.
