Hampden Thai Restaurant ‘Bodhi Corner’ Opening a Second Location on Light Street in Federal Hill

The team of Nikki Stevens and Jack Wongchalee of Bodhi Corner in Hampden are opening a second Baltimore restaurant at the former home of Liv2Eat and In Bloom at 1444 Light St. in Federal Hill. The new Thai restaurant will be called Bodhi in Federal Hill.

Stevens and Wongchalee are natives of northeast Thailand. The menu will feature cuisine from this area, as well as specials and dishes from all regions of the Southeast Asian country. Bodhi is named after the Bodhi Tree, a sacred Buddhist symbol.

The menu will have popular Thai noodle dishes such as Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles as well as a large selection of noodle dishes, rice dishes, curry, entrees, soups, salads, vegan dishes, and desserts. Entree will include Orange Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, and Sweet & Sour Salmon. Meats will include tilapia, founder, salmon, duck, chicken, pork, beef, and crab meat. Vegan dishes will feature vegetables, tofu, mock chicken, mock crab meat, and mock duck.

Bodhi in Federal Hill will serve beer, wine, and soft drinks, plus Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Iced Tea.

Desserts include Mango Sticky Rice, Thai Coconut Coconut Custard, and Coconut Fried Banana with Ice Cream.

Bodhi Corner opened last fall, and Stevens said business is going really well. She said they were interested in Federal Hill because of the younger population which she feels is drawn to Thai and vegan food. She also said the space is “very charming.”

The restaurant space at 1444 Light St. has a large bamboo patio and multiple dining rooms. An advisory group to Stevens and Wongchalee purchased the building in recent months.

Stevens said they will use a private dining room for special events like Thai food, beer, and wine pairings, as well as for private parties.

Bodhi in Federal Hill is hoping to open this summer and will have 10-12 employees. It will be open from 11am to 10pm on Monday to Friday and from 1030am to 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The team is currently completing a mostly-cosmetic renovation of the space that is costing about $120,000. The design will have a gray, black, and gold color scheme.
