Metropolitan to Close in Federal Hill at the End of the Year

Metropolitan Coffeehouse & Wine Bar at 902 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill will close at the end of the year. The restaurant posted the following announcement on Facebook earlier this month:

After 13 and a half years, Metropolitan will be closing after December 31. We are heartbroken by this decision, but the last few years have been difficult for our business, our city and our neighborhood. We choose to remember the last 13 and a half years as beautiful because of you – our friends, customers and neighbors. We hope to see you before we close to properly thank you for all the good times.

Thank you all.

Metropolitan’s last night of business will be a New Year’s Eve party this Sunday.

Owner Bruce Dorsey told SouthBMore.com that no effort has been made to sell the business at this time, but hopes to sell the business in the future.

The news garnered a strong reaction on social media with many posting their sadness about the announcement and sharing their favorite memories of the restaurant.

Metropolitan serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and coffee to go. It is known for its large selection of imported and craft beers, as well as its selection on wines, and hosting Firkin Thursday each week.
