Changes, New Location for Green Door Properties
Real estate company Green Door Properties purchased and opened a new 1,000 sq. ft. office at 8 W. West St. in Federal Hill at the former site of a surgery center. Its office is on the second floor and the company will be leasing a 5,000 sq. ft. commercial space on the first floor.
Green Door will now focus on commercial and development opportunities. It has partnered with Next Step Realty to take over its residential brokerage business. Next Step will move into Green Door’s office at 1138 S. Charles St. It will also keep its current office in Timonium.
KAKS KIDS Opens in Pigtown
KAKS KIDS Early Learning Childcare & Special Events Center opened at 1214-1216 in Pigtown. From its press release:

Sagamore Spirt Wins Awards
Port Covington’s Sagamore Spirit rye whiskey won two SIP (Spirits International Prestige) Awards, a Platinum Best-of-Class Award in the American Straight Rye Whiskey category and a Gold Award in the Individual Bottle Design category.
“We are thrilled to be awarded Platinum Best of Class in the American Straight Rye Whiskey category and Gold in the Individual Bottle Design category,” said Brian Treacy, president of Sagamore Spirit, in a press release. “Being recognized by the community so early in our entry into the whiskey scene is something we’re very proud of.”
Harbor Designs Expands in Pigtown
Harbor Designs has expanded from a small space to a 45,000 sq. ft. space at 1100 Wicomico St., an office building in Pigtown. From The Baltimore Sun:
The company, Harbor Designs and Manufacturing, works with startups, private companies, universities and independent inventors to turn product ideas into production-ready blueprints, and then, if the clients want, puts the products together right there.
Harbor Designs, which employs about 20 people, expects to be able to hire as many as 200 people as it grows into its new space, which is in the city’s Economic Empowerment Zone.
The company has invested $300,000 in the new space and has received about $1.5 million in loans, grants and investments from other partners, including the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Abell Foundation, TEDCO, the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, the Baltimore Development Corp. and the city.
A New Gym for SoWeBo
National gym chain Youfit Health Clubs opened a new location at 1205 W. Pratt St. at the Mount Clare Junction shopping center. The shopping center sits between Hollins Market, Mount Clare, Pigtown, and Union Square. Youfit is offering memberships for $10/month and the facility is open 24 hours a day, Monday through Thursday, and until 10pm on Fridays and 8pm on the weekends.

CWIST Now Workbench
Educational technology company CWIST, which relocated from Annapolis to Port Covington’s City Garage in February, expanded and changed its name to Workbench.
“We revolve around project-based learning so we wanted our name to reflect this key focus on making, building and learning,” said Workbench founder and CEO Chris Sleat in a press release. “But this is not your father’s workbench. These online sites, or “workbenches,” provide a new generation of fun, exciting learning experiences that teach programming, coding and other critical STEM skills. You can use the workbenches to make and program your own robots and drones or to share designs to print your own parts. The sky is the limit.”
Workbench provides lessons that use drones, robots, and circuits to teach students STEM skills.
