Free ‘Waterfront Wellness’ Outdoor Fitness Lineup at the Inner Harbor Announced

Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore and Medifast, presenters of Waterfront Wellness, a free outdoor fitness series, announced the 2021 season today to begin on Saturday, June 5 and run through the end of September. In a first for the series, Waterfront Wellness will host classes at Harbor Point Central Plaza in addition to West Shore Park.

“We’ve been hearing from past class-goers and residents, and they are eager for classes to begin,” said Laurie Schwartz, president of Waterfront Partnership. “We are thrilled to be able to offer studio quality classes at no cost to the community especially at a time when outdoor fitness is in demand due to the pandemic.”

Classes will take place every Saturday and Sunday morning at West Shore Park in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, and every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening at Harbor Point Central Plaza as follows:

  • Saturday:

o   8 a.m.: XPF Bootcamp

o   9 a.m.: XPF Dance2Fitness

  • Sunday:

o   9 a.m.: Yoga by Bikram Yoga Works

o   10 a.m.: Fed Hill Fitness Low Impact Bootcamp

  • Monday:

o   6 p.m.: XPF Core and Cardio

  • Tuesday:

o   6 p.m.: My Trainer Guy HIIT Class

  • Wednesday

o   6 p.m.: Let’s Go Fitness HIIT & Core

  • Thursday

o   6 p.m.: Breathing Dragon Yoga

Also new this year is a more robust incentive program to help motivate participants to meet personal fitness goals. Depending on the number of classes attended throughout the season, incentives range from Waterfront Wellness branded sports gear, to a $50 gift card to a local gym, health or wellness store of your choice, even a chance to win a Peloton bike with a 3-month subscription when participants attend 30 or more classes.

Baltimore-based Medifast and Waterfront Partnership hope to ignite healthy habits within the Baltimore community through the summer series.Medifast is the global company behind one of the fastest-growing health and wellness communities, OPTAVIA®. Participants of all skill levels are welcome and should bring their own mats, water and sneakers, if necessary. Pre-registration is required as each class will be limited to 50 participants. To help maximize health and safety, classes will require social distancing and masks will be required when arriving and leaving class, but are not required when actively participating in a class. Waterfront Wellness is Waterfront Partnership’s longest running program now in its eighth season and its most popular summertime activity. The series launched in 2012 and has partnered with Medifast to provide free fitness classes to Baltimoreans since 2015. The program has reached nearly 13,000 Baltimore City residents over the years.
