Verizon Store Closes on Light Street in Federal Hill

A 2,893 sq. ft. retail space in the area is now vacant as the Verizon store has closed at 1125 Light St. in Federal Hill. The Verizon store was operated by Verizon authorized retailer Russell Cellular.

A sign on the storefront says the location is permanently closed and that customers can visit nearby locations in East Baltimore and Halethorpe.

The Verizon store opened in Summer 2018. It was the longtime home of American Apparel prior to this.

The building at 1125 Light St. added a new panther mural in September 2018.

South Baltimore does have another Verizon store as McHenry Row in Locust Point has a location run by Victra Baltimore.

The closure of the Verizon store adds to a growing number of vacant, non-restaurant retail spaces along Light St. in Federal Hill. Federal Hill Natural Market closed in recent weeks at 1205 Light St., the former 2,000 sq. ft. Light Street Cycles at 1124 Light St. remains vacant since closing in 2018, the former 3,600 sq. ft. Unleashed by Petco has been vacant since closing in 2018, the former Federal Hill Income Tax space at 1003 Light St. remains vacant after the business moved to 1118 B Light St., Pawtimore closed in January at 1130 Light St., and iPhone Aid closed in February at 1442 Light St.

While all but two restaurant spaces (former Crazy Lil’s/Boiler Room and former Zuzu’s) in Federal Hill Main Street are occupied or has a business opening soon, there are a number of vacant non-restaurant retail spaces on Charles St. as well.
