Order & Chaos Coffee Coming to Key Highway in Federal Hill

Planit, a communications, marketing, and interactive agency, announced plans last year to relocate from Downtown to a new 30,000 sq. ft. office at 1414 Key Hwy. in Federal Hill. Along with the office, Planit will be opening a 1,100 sq. ft. coffee shop called Order & Chaos Coffee.

Order & Chaos Coffee will serve gourmet coffee, espresso, cappuccino, teas, and an assortment of light fare. It has selected Pfefferkorn Coffee, Inc., a family-operated roasting company located in Locust Point, to create custom blends for the shop.

“Planit’s upcoming move to South Baltimore inspired us to discover how we can continue to connect with the community and make our mark in more ways than one,” said Matt Doud, president and co-founder of Planit, in a press release. “The Order & Chaos Coffee brand emerged from the desire to generate a new, local spot for neighbors and commuters to relax and recharge in an atmosphere that reflects the energizing and creative culture of Planit.”

Planit appointed Ryan Herzing to serve as general manager of Order & Chaos Coffee. Herzing has nearly 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, he served as general manager of Roti Mediterranean Grill in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he was area supervisor for Venti Tre Modern Italian operating the restaurant’s Baltimore and Gaithersburg locations.

“Coffee fuels our creative process, and coffee shops and cafes have traditionally served as hubs for collaboration and inspired thinking,” said Ed Callahan, co-founder and creative strategist at Planit, in a press release. “As we continue to build cult followings for our clients’ brands, we thought it would be fitting to extend our agency into this stimulating community venture, and Order & Chaos Coffee was borne out of that vision.”

Order & Chaos Coffee plans to open its doors in August 2016.

The 97,000 sq. ft. 1414 Key Hwy. complex is the former home of Syrup KING Molasses dating back to 1919, and it’s currently undergoing a redevelopment. Along with Planit and Order & Chaos, Home on the Harbor has relocated within the complex to a new 9,000 sq. ft. store and Race Pace Bicycles has relocated within the complex to a new 12,000 sq. ft. store. The complex is also the home of Charm City Networks, Mark Thomas Architects, EnerNOC, O’Connor & Mooney Realtors, and several smaller companies.
