A site at 1007 to 1013 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill will be offered at auction. Alex Cooper will offer the .14 acre parcel with 6,942 sq. ft. of building area in an online auction that begins on Sunday, December 8th and ends on Friday, December 13th.
The site was eyed for a mixed-used development in recent years. The buildings were the former home of the Shofer’s Clearance Center, which was a part of the Shofer’s Furniture business located across the street. Shofer’s Owner Hank Shofer hoped to develop the buildings into 10 new apartments with garage parking and a 3,300 sq. ft. retail space, but told SouthBMore.com he has his “hands full and does not have the time to develop this property.”
The project site fronts the Federal Hill Main Street business district on S. Charles St. for 54 ft. The rear of the properties face Patapsco St. 1009 to 1013 S. Charles St. are two-story buildings and 1007 S. Charles St. is currently one story as it had to be partially demolished and stabilized.
The properties are zoned C-1 for Neighborhood Business District.
Opening bids for the auction are set at $500,000.
