Pawtimore Closing in Federal Hill 

Pawtimore at 1130 Light St. in Federal Hill is closing after almost six years with its last day on Friday. The business posted the following to its Facebook page:

It is with a heavy heart to inform you that after five wonderful years we have to close. We have loved each and every one of our two and four legged customers over the years. Unfortunately due to ongoing building maintenance issues and and a landlord that has not been willing to comply, we were not able to re-negotiate a lease with them. After much negotiation and a search for a new location in the area we were unsuccessful. At this time we will be closing down operations by the 10th of this month. We are not sure what the future will bring for us. Until then please know this has been a very difficult decision and we will miss you and our furry friends more than you will ever know. Thank you for your continued support over the past 5 years! With that being said please keep following us for updates on where our groomer Jess will be going. If you have a upcoming appointment we will be in touch with you about rescheduling once Jess finds a new place to groom your fur babies. Everything in store is on sale including our shelving so please stop by the next couple of days from 10-3 to pick up some things or make a offer!

Your Remedies Boutique Closes 

Your Remedies Boutique has closed at 1049 S. Charles St. after being open less than 2 months. The store specialized in CBD sales. Your Remedies was leasing the entire building which was completely renovated in recent months. Your Remedies sister company is bioRemedies MD, which has a lab in Southwest Baltimore at the University of Maryland BioPark.

Shy Watters Opens on Light Street

Shy Watters Hair Studio has opened a location at 1541 Light St. in Federal Hill/South Baltimore. Shy Watters has a location in Fells Point and previously had a location in Mount Vernon, before that shop relocated to the new Light St. location. The retail space was previously Riverside Capital and was renovated in recent months. The exterior of the building was painted gray and has a new Shy Watters mural.

Balti Virtual Expands at City Garage 

Balti Virtual is expanding at City Garage. From Baltimore Business Journal:

Balti Virtual has moved out of its original 1,200-square-foot office space inside City Garage in Port Covington. But it didn’t go far — just to the other side of a wall.

The 15-person virtual and augmented reality company has taken over a new space almost four times the size inside the repurposed bus depot in South Baltimore. It is one of a handful of tech-based companies that have been growing inside the space since it opened in 2016.

Gee said initially, Balti Virtual was looking to move out of City Garage and into a new space somewhere in the city. He said the company considered “lots of cool spaces” around town, but the team kept coming back to City Garage as a best option, especially when it came to keeping employees’ commutes reasonable and relatively equal. Gee said the new CIty Garage office is far larger than what the company had been searching for, but that is advantageous as well.

Capital Theatre for Sale

The former Capital Theatre at 1518 W. Baltimore St. in Franklin Square/Union Square is for sale. The 18,100 sq. ft. building has an open floor plan with “column-free” high ceilings, a two-story mezzanine, and a loading dock area. The building was last sold in 2017 and some interior demolition took place.

Jim Chivers of Gold and Company, who is listing the property, said it has great architecture and good bones. “We see a lot of investment being poured into this community, you can hear the construction,” said Chivers.

Chivers said they are looking for the right user which could be a community center or retail services.

Southwest Partnership Executive Director Michael Seipp told SouthBMore.com in October that his organization has considered moving its offices into the building.

New B&O Exhibit 

The B&O Railroad Museum has a new exhibit for the next couple of months. From a press release:

The B&O Railroad Museum unveils a new exhibit, Lines of Sight: Railroad Signs and Signals – an artful display of historic railroad signs and signals from across the ages and world.

This unique temporary exhibit showcases a vast global collection of antique railroad signs from North America, Far East, U.K., Australia, Nigeria and even former USSR! “This is a real treat for rail enthusiasts, art lovers, historians, and the general public,” said Kris Hoellen, Executive Director of the Museum, “it’s a remarkable collection that has not previously been displayed and has something for everyone – it’s simply cool.” Chief Curator Jonathan Goldman explains that “since the story of the B&O Railroad traces nearly 200 years of American history, these signs and signals provide a window into the two-century long legacy of visual communication in the American rail industry.”

There’s a fun interactive element with a mini stage and tablet screen welcoming visitors of all ages to be the conductor and learn how to use flag signals for trains in front of a mural of the Harper’s Ferry tunnel. Additionally, guests will glean an understanding of the complexity of railroad signals that were and are used to keep rail traffic flowing safely.

Keep the little conductor excitement going with free kid-friendly activity books to take home (available inside the exhibit area).

The Lines of Sight exhibit is included with admission and available through March 15, 2020.
