Federal Hill resident Andrew Carter, who is co-owner of Delia Foley’s and AJ’s on Hanover, is organizing a South Baltimore neighborhood cleanup and weed pulling event on Saturday, August 17th from 9am-12pm. Carter is partnering with local businesses Ace Hardware Federal Hill, Cheese Galore & More, Diablo Doughnuts, Hair of the Dog Pug & Grub, Lakeside Title, and SoBo Market on the event.
From the Facebook event:
We will be starting at 9am on Saturday, August 17th, feel free to start a little earlier if you’d like. Lakeside Title will be donating Gatorade, water bottles, snacks, and granola bars. Diablo Doughnuts will be donating 4 dozen doughnuts, and Ace Hardware will be donating 45 gallon contractor bags. I will be driving around in the morning with Jon Ferguson (830/9) dropping off all supplies and snacks needed for the day. I’ll also have bagged ice and beer NOT from Foley’s; residents are responsible for their own coolers. I have a giant 55+ gallon Miller Lite cooler to throw a few cases on ice ahead of time. Jon Ferguson and I will be driving around picking up the designated cleanup bags. Hair of the Dog, Foley’s, and Cheese Galore are donating food for a light buffet afterwards at 1130 and Anna Leventis is donating homemade ice cream sandwiches from Sobo Market, YUM! We will have two different lunch stations at HOD and Foley’s. That way neither bar is bombarded all at once. I’m super excited for this neighborhood cleanup, the after party, and most important to take pride in our South Baltimore neighborhood!
Carter told SouthBMore.com he hopes participants will focus on the weeds and trash on their blocks, as well as on clearing tree pits and the trash that piles up on storm grates.
Carter is hoping everyone will share their photos to the Facebook event so that a gallery can be created.
