Gangster Vegan Organics Opens at Cross Street Market

Gangster Vegan Organics opened its stall today at the newly-renovated Cross Street Market in Federal Hill. This is the fourth location for the 100% plant-based, organic, and free of gluten and soy restaurant.

Gangster Vegan was started by Vincent “Vinny Vegan” DePaul in Norristown, Pennsylvania. The Cross Street Market location is a franchise owned by the husband and wife duo of James and Taneea Yarborough. The Yarboroughs are also opening a brick-and-mortar location in Riverdale, Maryland.

The Yarboroughs, who live in Washington D.C., are big fans of Gangster Vegan and were customers when they would pass through Pennsylvania. They jumped at the chance to bring it to Maryland when they heard DePaul was looking to franchise. Taneea Yarborough is a school principal and James Yarborough is an accountant.

Taneea Yarborough’s family is from Baltimore and they knew the city was one of the first spots they were going to look to open a location. “We love the community and everything about Baltimore,” said James Yarborough, who noted the first &pizza location is in their Washington, D.C. neighborhood and that &pizza picking Federal Hill was a “a great sign.”

Everything at Gangster Vegan is made on-site from only nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. All the ingredients are kept raw and are not cooked. Gangster Vegan offers smoothies, juices, wellness shots, salads, brown rice bowls, a broccoli burger, a beet burger, dessert pies, vegan cheesecakes, and super food balls.

The bread for Gangster Vegan’s burgers is made from dehydrated onion, flack seeds, and sunflower seeds; the taco meat is made of walnuts; and the cheese is made of nuts. Gangster Vegan also has a vegan tuna salad made of sunflower seeds. James Yarborough noted a poplar wellness shot is the Hangover which is made of lemon, ginger, apple cider vinegar, turmeric, and cayenne.

“It’s a very approachable menu. You can still be a foodie when you come to Gangster Vegan,” said James Yarborough.

Gangster Vegan will be open from 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm on Saturdays, and 8am to 6pm on Sundays. James Yarborough said the bowl and salad menu will begin each day at 1030am.

Gangster Vegan will have approximately seven employees including a manager.
