Terrance West Teams with Race Pace Bicycles to Give Away 25 Bicycles to Baltimore City Kids

On Thursday evening, Ravens’ running back Terrance West was at Federal Hill’s Race Pace Bicycles giving bicycles to 25 kids from the Strengthening Family Program in Baltimore City. The street bikes from SCOTT Sports USA were purchased by West and put together and fitted by Race Pace to accommodate kids of different sizes and ages. Each kid also received a bike lock.

“The first thing I wanted to do every Christmas morning was go for a ride on my bike,” said West, who grew up in Baltimore and played football at Towson University.

“I used to be in their shoes, I know what it means to get a bike,” said West, who was happy to put a smile on the kids’ faces around the holidays. He joked that the kids will never be late for school and told SouthBMore.com about all the joy he had riding his bike as a kid.

One of the kids told West he would remember this day for the rest of his life.

West told SouthBMore.com how NBA star Carmelo Anthony would come home to Baltimore to give back to the kids when he was growing up.

The event was part of West’s Terrance West B.W.I. Foundation.

Race Pace was also excited to take part in the event. Nick Obriecht of Race Pace told SouthBMore.com that they try to participate in a bike donation event every year. Race Pace was contacted by Scott Sports and had just a few days to get the bikes fitted, put together, and ready for the event.

“We are happy to participate, this is awesome,” said Obriecht.
