No Way Jose Café to Rebrand by the End of October

The team from Blue Agave bought No Way Jose Café at 38 E. Cross St. in February 2016 and, at the end of this month, the Tex-Mex bar and restaurant will undergo a rebranding. This will include a new concept, menu, and name.

The new concept, which will be revealed at an upcoming soft opening, will focus on “providing simple, delicious food and uncomplicated drinks in an atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone.” In a press release the team said, “The management team decided to not follow the trend of upscale and sophisticated concepts, rather embrace the roots of what a neighborhood tavern really means to people. Through the transformation, leadership is adamant about not abandoning the location’s friendly, fun and simple feel.”

“We’ve considered a number of ideas, but struck a concept that will give us a fresh look while allowing us to still deliver the upbeat and laid-back atmosphere people always come here to find,” said Don Messinese, general manager of No Way Jose Café. “We’re not making this change too complicated or elaborate; we’re simply shifting gears so we can provide more fun for our guests.”

No Way Jose Café is hosting its retirement weekend on October 20-22 during which patrons will have the opportunity to experience the establishment one last time. Management will auction off the signature bay windows and wooden sign from the front of the building, and visitors will receive a gift to commemorate No Way Jose Café.

“We understand people have a sense of nostalgia attached to Jose’s, as we do too,” said Messinese. “But we’re confident that after a weekend of celebrating all the joy Jose’s has brought, our patrons will join us in welcoming this exciting new chapter on Cross Street.”

Renovations have been underway on the building for the last six months to help improve the flow of the space and to add more natural light.
