Fat Larry’s at 1026 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill closed last month. The space is now available for lease and owner Larry Davidov has put the restaurant’s former six-day tavern liquor license up for sale.
Davidov told SouthBMore.com he closed the restaurant due to personal health issues. He has a few surgeries coming up and is looking at eight to nine months of recovery. Davidov said business had been slow, but that he would have kept Fat Larry’s open if he could still walk. He said that business never came back to its previous levels after the unrest in 2015.
Davidov told SouthBMore.com that he was able to sell all of his kitchen equipment and everything in Fat Larry’s in just a few days. He described it as “the Federal Hill community coming together quickly to help out.”
“It was heartbreaking when I closed,” said Davidov. “I’m going to miss everybody.” He noted he received many calls and messages from friends and customers after closing.
Davidov lives in Locust Point and said he looks forward to hanging out with everyone in Federal Hill when he is back to better health.
Davidov said he is interested in starting another business in Federal Hill after his recovery.
