Kristie Bukowski, who has bartended for the last 17 years at both Shotti’s Point and Paul’s at 701 E. Fort Ave., will become the new owner of Shotti’s Point. Kristie Bukowski is buying the Riverside building and business with her husband Dan Bukowski, who runs karaoke nights at the bar.
The Bukowskis met when Dan Bukowski was living across the street from 701 E. Fort Ave. and was a customer of Kristie Bukowski at Paul’s. The couple continues to live in the same house today.
When owner Mike Shott decided to sell Shotti’s Point and focus on his two locations in Ocean City, where he lives full-time with his family, he offered the opportunity to the Bukowskis and they said yes.
“It’s exciting, it’s scary, it’s all the things. I’m looking forward to it,” said Kristie Bukowski. “I love the fact that I’m able to keep my job.”
Kristie Bukowski will continue bartending, which she said she loves.
“I’m not changing a thing about the restaurant. Why fix it if it ain’t broken?” said Kristie Bukowski. “The only thing that is changing is who signs the checks.”
The Bukowskis are currently working through the liquor license transfer process before the sale of the business closes.
Shotti’s Point will keep its same menu with poplar items such as its wings, Tsunami Tacos, and Rhino Chaser French fries. JD Hammett will continue to be the head chef.
The bar will continue to serve its beers, tequila drinks, and fresh-squeezed crushes.
The Bukowskis do plan on sprucing up the place a little bit. They already added new string lighting and flower pots to the outdoor patio.
Shotti’s Point is open everyday from 1130am to 2am for lunch, happy hour, dinner, and late night crowds.
Kristie Bukowski grew up in the neighborhood and loves that Shotti’s Point is a blend of old and new South Baltimore. “I love it, it makes it more fun,” she said.
Kristie Bukowski said business is starting to feel a lot more normal theses days and praised the neighborhood for supporting Shotti’s Point during the COVID-19 dining shutdowns.
“The whole neighborhood really turn out to support us,” she said. “There was a line at our walk-up window. It was great!”
“Kristie and Dan are lifers. I’m very excited for them and I’m very excited to keep it in the family,” said Shott.
Shott said he’s very proud of the business he built and that he “can’t thank the neighborhood enough” for the support Shotti’s Point has received from new customers and the old clientele from Paul’s alike.
Shott said he sees a lot of the Shotti’s Point regulars at his locations in Ocean City and loves the blending of both worlds.
