On November 20th, the Pigtown home of disabled Vietnam veteran Frank May was damaged by an electrical fire on the home’s second floor. Frank May and his daughter Shirley May, as well as their cats, have been forced to vacate the home by Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development until repairs are made.
Frank May’s brother Billy May Sr. has started a Facebook Fundraiser to help raise money for the repairs which will include a renovated second floor and new electric in the house. The fundraiser has currently raised more than $3,200 of the $10,000 goal.
The house had a damaged roof with a hole in it after the fire, but City Builders, LLC owner Roger Shiflett heard about the situation and repaired the roof at no cost.
New windows were also already installed using money from the fundraiser.
Federal Hill pizza and gelato shop Tinybrickoven is hosting a fundraiser this Wednesday from 12pm to 8pm. During the fundraiser, 20% of all proceeds will go to the May family to help with the needed repairs. Donations will also be collected.Tinybrickoven owner Will Fagg, who is a United State Navy veteran said, “If anyone deserves a nice home for the holidays, it is our veterans.”
