The long wait for the Riverside Park Pool is over as it will open for the first time this summer today at 12pm. There will be free admission to the pool on Saturday and Sunday.
Baltimore City Recreation and Parks was originally scheduled to open the Riverside Park Pool on June 23rd, but water flooded into the basement pump room when the pool was filled, leading to a series of needed repairs.
A gate valve failure led to the flooding and subsequent electrical damage. The gate valve was replaced and the pool needed a new 600-amp load center, a new transformer, small load centers, and a water heater disconnect. Much of electrical work was delayed until the pump room was completely dry.
The work to repair the pool took several weeks longer than expected. Recreation and Parks began filling the pool this week.
Riverside Park Pool will be open Monday to Friday from 1230pm to 330pm for open swim, and Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 8pm for programmed swimming sessions. On Fridays, the pool will close at 7pm after family/lap swim starting at 4pm. On Saturdays, the pool will be open for open swim from 12pm to 430pm and 5pm to 7pm. On Sundays, the pool will be open from 1pm to 3pm and 330pm to 6pm for open swim.
The pool will be open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 12pm for Baby Country Club.
Riverside Park Pool is scheduled to close for the season on September 3rd.
