Another Federal Hill restaurant has closed as In Bloom is no longer open at 1444 Light St. The wife and husband team of Cecilia Benalcazar and Chef Kevin Perry opened Liv2Eat in 2012 and rebranded the restaurant as In Bloom last summer.
Benalcazar told SouthBMore.com the following in an email, “like with the other “non-bar” establishments, there was just not enough business. We are looking to sell.”
In Bloom features a bar, an open kitchen, several dining spaces, and a large outdoor patio. Before Liv2Eat, 1444 Light St. was the home to Centro and longtime-restaurant The Bicycle.
In addition to the business being up for sale, the 5,148 sq. ft. building, which sits on a 3,615 sq. ft. lot, is also currently listed for sale. Along with In Bloom, the property includes a two- and three-bedroom apartment, both of which are currently leased.
Benalcazar and Perry, who reside in the neighborhood, still have a business in the area as they opened Blooming Deli next door to In Bloom at 1448 Light St. in February. Blooming Deli’s offerings include Boars Head deli sandwiches, bagels, coffee, and smoothies.
In Bloom joins other Federal Hill restaurants that have recently closed including Metropolitan, Bluegrass, and Regi’s. All of these restaurants are currently for sale or seeking new operators.
Wine Market Bistro in Locust Point has also closed its dining room, but its liquor store and front bar remains open. Wine Market will be announcing changes in the near future.
