9/10 Condition Sneaker Boutique Relocating from Towson to Pigtown

9/10 Condition Sneaker Boutique is relocating and expanding from a small space in Towson to a larger 1,800 sq. ft. space at 775 Washington Blvd. in Pigtown at the former home of Lilly Madison Furniture. Roberto Fontanez, who worked at Finish Line since 1999, started his business seven months ago and quickly outgrew his space in Towson.

9/10 specializes in sneakers and offers apparel, jerseys, and some vintage clothes as well. The majority of the inventory at the store are previously-owned items that are in very good condition. Customers can buy, sell, and trade at 9/10. Fontanez said about 80% of his inventory comes from his clients. He noted that many of the sneakers were worn just a few times.

Fontanez began buying up shoes for his inventory about a year and a half ago. “80% of the shoes at 9/10 you won’t find at Foot Locker,” said Fontanez.

Popular shoes at 9/10 include vintage Air Jordans, Adidas Ultra Boost, NMD, and Yeezy brands.

Fontanez told SouthBMore.com that he likes everything about the new location, which will likely open on March 1st. He plans on keeping the Towson store open until then. “I’ve always been eyeing the city, which is definitely a fit for the shoe culture,” said Fontanez. He’s excited to be on Pigtown Main Street in a highly-visible storefront with a lot of traffic on Washington Blvd.

Fontanez said Pigtown Main Street has been a lot of help and that he’s met many neighbors and fellow business owners already. He’s also likes being next door Fashion Kings Clothing. “You can get the shoes and then you can get the clothes to go with it,” he said.

The space was in great shape according to Fontanez. He said the only renovations will be updating the paint color and adding an exterior sign. He noted the store will also have signs and memorabilia from the Orioles and Ravens, plus a lot of Michael Jordan items on the walls.  The space will give him room for a lot more inventory.

With the move to the larger store, Fontanez plans on hiring his first employees.

Fontanez said his growth can be attributed to word of mouth and that social media, especially Instagram, has been huge to show off his products.

Fontanez told SouthBMore.com that he’s had Orioles and Ravens players buy shoes from 9/10. “I’ve been very blessed and am lucky,” he said.

9/10 will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 8pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.
