ZeroFox Moves into Pabst Castle
ZeroFox moved into the recently-renovated Pabst Castle at 1834 S. Charles St. Formerly boarded and rundown, the renovation of the building included the restoration of the brick, new windows, a new rooftop and deck, patio, an addition, and more.
ZeroFox, a social media cyber security company, recently raised $27 million in Series B Funding and expects to double the staff size of its company, which currently sits at just under 100, in the next 12 months according to CEO James Foster. The company relocated from an office space at 1111 Light Street.
Construction began at the Pabst Castle in February 2015. It was once eyed for a production brewery and brewpub by Chesapeake Craft Brewers, but Chesapeake opted for more space and recently opened Key Brewing in Dundalk instead.

Himalayan Bistro Opens
Federal Hill now has Indian and Nepalese cuisine as Himalayan Bistro opened last week at 1030 Light St. in the former space of a 7-Eleven. Himalayan Bistro is owned by Mohan Thapa and the kitchen is led by Chef Danny Lamichhane. It will offer a lunch buffet, as well as a variety of menu items including appetizers, salads, soups, entrées, vegetarian items, desserts, and more.
The building is shared with Blue Moon Café and Charm City Yoga.
Clean Up at Port Covington
Sagamore Development recently cleaned up a fenced-off area in Port Covington that was once used as storage for tires from the Grand Prix. The fence was taken down and the grass was cleaned up at the space.
Sagamore does not currently have additional plans for this lot which sits adjacent to City Garage.
MetroPCS Closes
The MetroPCS store at 1128 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill closed.
Former Dry Cleaners Converted to New Home
A former storefront dry cleaners at 1460 Battery Ave. was renovated and converted to a residence by BMZ Development LLC. The property has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, and is listed for $424,900.
Local Resident Named Candidate for ‘Women of the Year’
South Baltimore resident Brittany Webster has been named a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society 2016 Women of the Year recognition by The Maryland Chapter. From a press release:
Webster, Administrative Coordinator at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, is one of an elite group of community and business leaders who will compete for the titles of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year. Competing for these titles is an honor surrounded with a great deal of fanfare, including a full-page ad in USA Today. However, the most important reason candidates participate is to find cures for blood cancers and ensure that patients have access to lifesaving treatments.
Webster became involved because she wanted to fund research for the cure to blood cancers, and to help those affected by blood cancers. “I want to help raise money for an organization that is actively searching for a cure, and getting closer every day,” she says.
As a candidate, Webster will raise funds for a world without blood cancers between April 7th and June 18th, 2016. Every dollar she raises will count as one “vote” in her favor. The male and female candidates with the most “votes” will be awarded the titles Maryland Man & Woman of the Year at a Grand Finale on June 18th at Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore. The local winners are then entered into the competition for National Man & Woman of the Year titles.
Fed Thrill Releases Porter Frames
Federal Hill-based sunglasses company Fed Thrill released a new frame style that gives an ode to the neighborhood. The new style is called the Porter Frame and is inspired by one of their favorite former neighborhood bars, Porter’s Pub.
Fed Thrill now offers three styles: Fulton, Maverick, and Porter.
