Umi Sake Closes 

Asian restaurant Umi Sake at McHenry Row closed. Umi Sake, which opened at the end of 2014, is the third restaurant to occupy that spot since the shopping center opened in early 2013. Red Parrot Asian Bistro and House of Asia were previously in that location. McHenry Row developer 28 Walker told SouthBMore.com it would be open to subdividing the space into two retail suites.

Abbey Burger Opens in Fells Point

Federal Hill’s Abbey Burger Bistro opened its third restaurant, and its second Baltimore City location, with the opening of Abbey Burger Fells Point at 811 S. Broadway in late December. Teaming up on the project is Jason Zink, the former owner of No Idea Tavern and Don’t Know Tavern as well as the current owner of Smaltimore in Canton, along with the owners of Abbey Burger Russ and Marigot Miller.

The 100-person restaurant will feature the same menu as Federal Hill as well as a 40-tap draft system.

Abbey Burger also has an Ocean City location.

Pigtown Mentioned on Travel + Leisure

In December, a Travel + Leisure article titled, “The 119 Most Underrated Attractions Around the World,” featured Charm City. The Baltimore section included mentions of Federal Hill; the Baltimore Book Festival, which takes place at the Inner Harbor; and Salt Tavern, the sister restaurant of Locust Point’s 1157 Kitchen + Bar. Getting its own paragraph was Pigtown. From the article:

Former Sam’s Club Adds Billboards

Under Armour is nearing its first move to Port Covington as the finishing touches are being put on the conversion of the former Sam’s Club at the Port Covington Shopping Center into a 170,000 sq. ft. office building for its finance and IT department. This is the first building for its new 3 million sq. ft. Port Covington campus. A masterplan for the campus will be revealed at UDARP this Thursday.

Under Armour recently installed a series of billboards on the building that include large photos of athletes Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, Bryce Harper, Jordan Spieth, Andy Murray, Misty Copeland, and more.
