A new mural is now on display on the side wall of 1125 Light St. in Federal Hill. The mural, which was painted by Spanish mural artist Sabek, features a large panther sitting down and looking back towards the street.
The building is owned by Paul Tibolla. Property manager Sally Hamidi told SouthBMore.com the following in an email: “We really wanted something that would highlight the building while bringing more art to the neighborhood. The location of the blank wall in relation to Light Street seemed to present the perfect opportunity. We felt that Baltimore was a great place for this endeavor since there already is a thriving street art scene.”
And in regards to the design, she said: “The panther was placed on there as a symbol of protection and to pay homage to Baltimore’s artistic community.”
1125 Light St. has a 2,893, sq. ft. retail space that is now the home of The Wireless Center, which is a Verizon Premium Retailer. The store opened earlier this summer and replaced American Apparel, which closed in 2017.
The Wireless Center completed a renovation of the retail space, painted the exterior of the storefront, and added new signage.
