Ryleigh’s Employee Murdered in Canton
On Tuesday morning Sebastian Dvorak, a bartender at the Ryleigh’s Oyster family of restaurants, was murdered during an apparent robbery in Canton. From Baltimore Police Department:
On June 13, 2017 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 2500 block of Boston Street for a report of an injured person.
Upon officer’s arrival, they located a male, later identified as Sebastian Tucker Dvorak, 27, bleeding from the upper body.
Medics responded to the location and transported Dvorak to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The individuals in this video are considered persons of interest in the murder of Dvorak.
The person of interest is described as an African- American male, thick curly hair, medium complexion, grey tee-shirt with a white tank-top underneath, blue jeans and grey New Balance sneakers. The person of interest can be observed in the surveillance video placing eye glasses on his face while walking down Eastern Avenue.

Mondawmin Fried Chicken Closes at Cross Street Market
Mondawmin Fried Chicken, a 23-year tenant of Cross Street Market, has closed its stall. Caves Valley Partners, which manages and will redevelop the market, told SouthBMore.com the closure was related to personal health issues with the owner.

Anthem House Water Taxi Stop Opens
A new “Anthem House” water taxi stop opened on Key Hwy. The stop is located along the pier at Sagamore Development’s offices at 1020 Key Hwy. Boats will depart from this stop from 10:14am to 11:38pm.
Anthem House is nearing completion and will have 292 apartments and 20,000 sq. ft. of retail. Anthem House II, across from Anthem House, is beginning construction and will have 52 apartments.
Zipcar Spots Removed
The Zipcar parking spaces and cars have been removed from the 1900 block of Marshall St. outside of 1901 S. Charles St. Chesapeake Realty Partners, the ownership team of 1901 South Charles and 2 East Wells, told SouthBMore.com that the decision was ZipCar’s and they were disappointed to see them go.
Zipcar still has other spaces within South Baltimore.
Light Rail Extension Planning Begins
Sagamore Development has begun planning for a Light Rail extension to its Port Covington redevelopment. Sagamore has issued a request for qualifications for planning and preliminary design. From Baltimore Business Journal:
The RFQ by Sagamore released May 25 and due on June 16 aims to begin planning and early design work with a goal of using that as a platform for future funding quests.
Marc Weller, president of Sagamore, said the planning is essential to the overall design.
“We recognize transit plays a critical role in Port Covington’s transportation goals, and light rail has been reflected in our plan from inception,” Weller said in a statement. “The request for qualifications has been issued so that the planning and preliminary design necessary to secure funding and governmental approvals can be achieved, bringing one more link to the jobs and opportunities in Port Covington to the residents in Baltimore city and nearby counties.”

Wonders of Damascus Event
Mera Kitchen Collective, “a community-driven, food-based cooperative focused on empowerment of refugee and immigrant women,” is hosting a pop-up on Tuesday, June 27th at Hersh’s called Wonders of Damascus.
Hersh’s is donating wine and beer for the event and Klein’s ShopRite grocery store will be donating all of the raw ingredients for the dinner. The chef for the evening is Iman Ashab, a recent refugee and widow from the Syrian war. Before she fled Syria, Ashab was one of the chefs at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus.
All of the proceeds will go to The International Rescue Committee, Refugee Youth Project at Baltimore City Community College, and programs at Mera Kitchen Collective.
