The money is used to send scholar athletes to basketball camps around Baltimore over the summer months. This year we plan to attend Cardinal Hoops Camp (run by the head coach of Calvert Hall), St. Frances Academy Basketball Camp and Bulldog Basketball Camp at the 29 Street Community Center.

Any additional money goes to academic incentives for the scholar athletes as part of their year round mentoring. Students can earn these rewards by maintaining grades of 75% or greater in ALL subjects of study for each quarter.

Federal Hill rowhome accidentally knocked down

Emergency Condemnation and Demolition of Two Fort Avenue Buildings in Federal Hill

Two adjacent buildings at 212 and 214 E. Fort Ave. in Federal Hill were condemned by a Housing Department of Baltimore City building inspector on Saturday night and emergency demolition began today. An “Emergency Condemnation and Demolition Notice” sign from the Housing Department was hanging on the facade of 214 E. Fort Ave.

The two properties, which are only attached to each other, were undergoing a renovation and were recently gutted. The buildings were most recently the home of Laundry Mutt before it closed.

SouthBMore.com spoke to multiple nearby residents who said that neighbors began to call 311 and the Baltimore City Fire Department on Friday after noticing that the side wall of 212 E. Fort Ave., which faces the alley, was beginning to buckle. They also reported new cracks in the sidewalk.

The Housing Department came out on Saturday and condemned the property, and needed BGE to disconnect the gas lines so that demolition could begin, according to neighbors. The block is currently closed off from traffic.

Demolition caused some damage to a grill and patio furniture at an adjacent home.

The following video of the demolition was posted on YouTube by Gary Trakhman (warning: video contains explicit language)
