The South Baltimore Little League (SBLL) parade is tomorrow Saturday, April 29th from 11am to noon. The parade celebrates another season of youth baseball in South Baltimore, as well as the 60th anniversary of the league. Approximately 300 players will participate in the parade along with coaches, volunteers, and guests.
Special guests include the Oriole Bird, Baltimore Police Department Commissioner Kevin Davis, Dream Nation Marching Band, Baltimore City Entertainers Marching Band, New Edition Legacy Marching Band, Silver Starlette Majorettes, Lansdowne Shooting Stars Cheer Stars cheer squad, Fort McHenry U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Color Guard, and additional mascots including the Chick-fil-A Cow, Foghorn from Royal Farms, Harry the Happy Dragon from Harris Teeter, SBLL’s Baseball Man, Francis Scott Key Elementary Middle School’s FSK Fishing Hawk, the Digital Harbor Ram, and the State Farm Safety Bear. A Baltimore City Fire Department truck will also be part of the parade.
The parade starts at Federal Hill Park and travels south on Riverside Ave. It then heads east on E. Fort Ave. and finishes at the SBLL facility at 1101 E. Fort Ave. The parade will be followed by speeches and a bake sale. The concession stand will also be open. SBLL games will take place all day at the facility.
SBLL officially began this year’s league play on April 18th.
SBLL has approximately 300 players from ages 4 to 15, and 29 baseball teams. Leagues include T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Minor, Majors, and Junior/Seniors. SBLL owns and manages its Locust Point facility which was gifted to the league by Coca-Cola in 1997. The facility has undergone improvements in recent years thanks to donations from local business including Domino Sugar, McHenry Row owner 28 Walker, and Under Armour.
