Prerequisite: INTD 211 or consent of the program coordinator.
Course Description: Color for Interior Design explores color theory and application of color in the interior environment. Major Topics: Color Theory, Color: light and reflectance, Color Language, Color systems, Color psychology and perception, Cultural use of color, Color and the principles of design, Interior design color tools, Specifying color products, Color consulting, Color trends and forecasting, Color use in design typologies, Color use for way finding and safety, Historic use of color in interior design and architecture. 3 credits: 3 lecture hours per week.

Course Description: The Hilton Mansion is a historic building on the CCBC Catonsville Campus, which is currently undergoing renovation for improved function and use. The interior design program has been invited to participate in the renovation of this project. As part of this course, we will collaborate with CCBC Facilities and other project stakeholders to assist in designing portions of the mansion, these committees will also serve as our clients for approval and presentation processes. The mansion is due to be completed in Fall 2017. The primary focus of this course will be the interior design of the second floor (main, public spaces). The project will emphasize designing the window treatments, furniture, textile selection, wall finishes, rugs, and decorative finishing elements for the proposed spaces. The course will include research and team collaboration, historic window treatments, commercial textiles, window treatment design, furniture procurement, work orders, specifications, field trips, and site visits. 3 credits: 3 lecture hours per week.
